I remember growing up with the cars and trucks my parents had...the one thing that was NEVER lacking was the sound system. The floor boards may have been rusted through in our '78 Ford pickup, but that just meant we had more room underneath of the seats to attach the speakers.
Needless to say, the two factory speakers in the back window and the broken speakers in the dash were not cutting it. I found a couple of Pioneer 6x9 speakers at a pawn shop for $15 to replace the two in the back window.
Fitting them under the grilles for the factory speakers was a chore. I ended up removing to of the four posts that the speakers bolted to to hold them up under the back window ledge. After that, the Pioneers set nicely under the grilles, and aren't moving.
Run into the Clarion tape deck (not the factory unit), they sounded better....almost...good.
